The Planner’s Edit: Taylor Swift’s Engagement + Your Wedding Planning Business

what does taylor swift's engagement mean for your wedding planning business?

Hey wedding planners, the Timeline Genius team is here to give our hot takes and expert-driven opinions on the issues facing today’s wedding pros. And we definitely had to hop on the biggest wedding news in decades!

Who else is waiting for Taylor’s inquiry to land in their inbox?

Even if I’m not the chosen planner to sweep Taylor into her bridal era, this event is going to make big waves in the wedding industry that you have to stay on top of!

But what does Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce’s engagement mean for your wedding planning business?

Here are 5 ways wedding planners can ride the high of this romance and “America’s Royal Wedding.”

#1 Have fun on social media

Good news brings us together. We want to talk about it, share jokes and theories, and feel like we aren’t alone in our excitement.

So now is the time to get on social media and have some fun. Share the memes, create a TikTok, and make some fun comments. This is a fantastic chance to connect with your community of wedding pros AND couples who are searching for vendors.

Pro Tip: On Instagram, share your fun Taylor Swift content in your stories. Social media expert Logan Montague says that’s the best place for your fun, casual content that showcases your personality. (Listen to our full episode about social media for wedding planners here!)

#2 Become a local expert

Taylor Swift’s engagement is putting the wedding industry front-and-center in the news. This doesn’t happen often, and it’s the perfect chance for you to sweep in and become a local expert.

Put on your Public Relations hat and reach out to regional news sources. Their infotainment and soft news programming will want to report on the engagement through a local lens, and you can pivot the conversation toward your wedding market (and your wedding planning business!).

This is a great way to get in front of your community and present yourself as a trusted source on all things weddings.

#3 Bring your brand up to date

We’ve already seen how Taylor Swift’s eras influence fashion and design. And we can’t wait to see how her wedding affects cultural aesthetics. You cannot sleep on this!

Her music, her wedding, and her social media will play a big role in what Gen Z is drawn to. That doesn’t mean you need to change your brand to exactly match the trend, but you also can’t fall behind the times.

We’re entering a new age of weddings. Keep an eye on your words and images to make sure they are up-to-date and Gen Z friendly. Otherwise, you’ll look dated and out of touch!

#4 Get ready for vow renewals

Ok, this one is a big one! My prediction is that we’ll see a big influx of vow renewals over the next couple of years. After all, we’ve got two huge things going on: a half-decade has passed since Covid lockdowns AND there’s a generation-defining engagement.

Lots of couples are ready to have a “real” wedding, especially as we get brand-new trends and styles to play around with.

This means the wedding industry is entering its Vow Renewal Era.  Make sure your wedding planning business is ready. Couples searching for vow renewals in your area should be able to find your website easily. Consider creating custom packages for vow renewals and showcasing examples on your social media.

Pro Tip: Have a styled shoot coming up? Consider framing it as a vow renewal to attract these leads. Some married couples may not even be considering a vow renewal until they see how beautiful your work is!

#5 Watch your paid ads

Do you subscribe to Mark Chapman’s emails from the I Do Society? His alert this week is super important for anyone running Google Ads.

Mark wisely says to make “Taylor Swift” a negative word in your ad campaign. This way, when everybody in your region googles “Taylor Swift Wedding Planner,” they aren’t accidentally clicking to your site, wasting your money.

After all, these searchers aren’t trying to hire wedding planners, and they likely won’t spend any time on your site.

Be sure to connect with The I Do Society if you want any kind of advertising help for your wedding planning business!

Who Is Taylor Swift’s Wedding Planner?

Hey, if Travis Kelce could become Taylor Swift’s fiancé (no offense, Trav), then one of us could become her wedding planner.

In the meantime, we’re still playing an active part in their engagement! We’re joining the excitement, paying attention to the trends, and preparing for this monumental event.

Thanks for stopping by for this month’s Planner’s Edit (Taylor’s Version)!
